Events and Happenings for Saturday, March 7 in Carson City and Beyond

Happy Saturday Carson City! We’ve got a ton of great events through this weekend, so check below to take your pick!

Saturday, March 7
Snowshoe Thompson Ski & Snowshoe event celebrates 20 years. 9 a.m. at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe. Snow or no snow, event activities begin with a guided tour starting at 9:30 am with Norwegian native and longboard ski expert Nina MacLeod, who will also give a longboard ski demonstration if sufficient snow is present. Attendees should bring their own snowshoes and cross country skis.

Sporting Clays Fun Shoot. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Capitol City Gun Club, 3590 Arrowhead Dr. Along with plenty of fun, lunch and prizes will be included throughout the day! The cost for the event is $45 per adult and $20 for youth.

Lyon County Republican Central Committee meets Saturday in Dayton. 10 a.m. at the Lyon County Utilities Building, 34 Lakes Blvd. This is a great opportunity to meet Republicans and local and state officials. Updates on the precinct meetings held earlier in February and information on the upcoming Lyon County Convention and Nevada state convention will be discussed.

Guided snowshoe hikes with a ranger on the Carson Ranger District. 10 a.m. at Tahoe Meadows, one mile southwest of the summit of Nevada State Route 431 Mt. Rose Highway. The Carson Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is pleased to announce the return of the popular Forest Ranger-led snowshoe walks. The walks begin this Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be offered every Saturday through March 28.

Sierra Chef in Genoa presents 'Ramblings & Fish Mongering' Saturday featuring Charlie Abowd. 1 to 3 p.m. at 2292 Main St. Suites 3 and 4. Come and spend Saturday afternoon spinning stories about fish, buying fish, and cooking fish. The event features legendary Chef Charlie Abowd and will be this Saturday. Reservations are required. $95 per person.

Carson City's Monthly Wine Walk. 1 to 5 p.m. in downtown Carson City. The Downtown Wine Walk is a must not miss! For just $15 you’ll receive a commemorative wine glass and endless reasons to stroll through Downtown sipping and tasting the afternoon away. Bring your wine walk glass with the Carson City Logo on it and pay only $12. You can purchase tickets at the following locations: The Carson Nugget, Cactus Jack’s, Carson Jewelry and Loan, and Touched by Angels.

Speed Dating at Caterpillar's Hookah Lounge. 4 to 6 p.m. at 314 S. Carson St. Join us on March 7th, at 4PM during the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk for Caterpillar's second speed dating event hosted by our fantastic Lounge Staff.

Family Movie Night at Carson Mall with free viewing of 'Frozen 2' from Disney. 4:30 p.m. at 1227 S. Carson St. Come and join us this Saturday, March 7, beginning at 4:30 p.m. for a movie in the mall at Carson Mall. We will be watching the new “Frozen 2” movie!

St. Teresa School's 17th Annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. 5 to 10 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center Facility, 1860 Russell Way. St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School will hold its 17th Annual Crab Feed Fundraiser on Saturday, March 7, 2020, beginning at 5 p.m. at the MAC, 1860 Russell Way, Carson City. Catering provided by Liberty Events and Catering. There will be dinner, dancing, raffle prizes, silent and live auctions. Tickets available now - $75 per person.

Tom Petty, Rod Stewart tribute shows to headline homeless fundraiser at Carson City's Fuji Park. 5:30 p.m. at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall, 601 Old Clear Creek Rd. The Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in Carson City will be rockin' all evening long on Saturday, March 7 as the legendary Michael Furlong Band presents a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tribute show entitled "A Face in the Crowd." Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the band will keep the area's Petty fans on the dance floor until the show wraps up at 10 p.m.

A to Zen's 70s Dance Party. 7 to 9 p.m. at 1803 N. Carson St. Old Skool Dance party, featuring special guest vinyl DJ Duo Honay Wax! Boogie the night away in your best 70s garb, listening to the best 70s tunes.

Karaoke on Saturdays featured at Y-NOT Saloon. 8 to 11 p.m. at 152 E. Long St. Saturday night karaoke at the Y-NOT Saloon 152 E. Long St. in Carson City. Karaoke by Jeff Stevens from 8 to 11 p.m. come one come all come sing and have a great time.

Lee Kennedy at Living the Good Life. 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. Join Lee and his friends Saturday March 7th at Living the Good Life. It’s going to be another epic night of great food, drinks, music and friends. Come dance the night away!

Sunday, March 8
Sunday Mound House Cleanup. 8:45 a.m. at the Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory, 56 NV-341. Come get dirty in Mound House! We’re meeting at the Chocolate Nugget in Mound House. Once we get everyone signed in, and the trail boss tells us the plan, we’ll hit the trails, and save some desert from the dumpers.

Muscle Powered Sunday Bicycle Ride. 9 a.m. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd, Carson City. in the south parking lot, next to the Linear Ditch Trail. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City. Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building.

Salon Emerald's Grand Re-Opening. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 951 N. Stewart St. Suite A in Carson City. We will be at Salon Emerald sampling super delicious energy teas that burn calories, protein coffee and some super yummy shakes and scheduling free wellness profiles for weight loss or weight gain!

Brunch and Bloody Marys Class at Sierra Chef. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2292 Main Street Suites 3 and 4 in Genoa. Come on down to Sierra Chef and get a headstart on the day with a delicious cooking class to go along with a Bloody Mary bar. Classes are $75 per person, please arrive on time.

Monthly Church Potluck. 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Silver Hills Community Church, 4555 S. Edmonds Dr. in Carson City. Bring a dish to share for a lunch potluck to be held after the service. Stay to fellowship with our church family and share a meal. Second Sunday of every month.

Daylight Savings Paint-Party. 1 to 4 p.m. at Caterpillar’s Hookah Lounge, 314 S. Carson St. Paint the day away with us on Sunday! It is a fun-filled event you don’t want to miss. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older.

Cabaret Fundraiser for Wild Horse Productions. 5 to 7 p.m. at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, 1500 Old Hot Springs Rd. in Carson City. Enjoy great food and fantastic entertainment at the first ever Cabaret Fundraiser for Wild Horse Productions. There is no fee to get in, and Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint in Carson City is generously donating a portion of all sales.
